What's Arising Podcast - Finding Your Flow

Finding Your Flow in a Turbulent World

... Episode 13 of the What's Arising Podcast

What would FLOW look like or feel like for you? What if you could anticipate what was on the horizon of your life and rather than struggle or push to accomplish your goals, you flowed towards them?

In this podcast, I invite you to ANTICIPATE what ‘wants’ to happen FOR you in 2024, but this applies to any time. Find your stream, and flow with it. Why struggle to swim upstream or in the ‘wrong’ stream when LIFE is ready to show you an easier way to true prosperity and freedom?

I’ll share about ‘Gene Key 41’ (from The Gene Keys by Richard Rudd), which is about the way of anticipation. This is the perfect insight to begin your journey into the New Year. I’ll also share about ‘Gene Key 37’ which I anticipate is within my own flow and on the horizon for this great shift in the human experience. Gene Key 37 is about equality and reuniting the human family. It is increasingly the stream that I am called to swim in and is at the heart of my program, ‘Cohering Community

Welcome to What’s Arising?

I wish you an amazing New Year.

The topic for this episode was a little slow in coming. I had hoped to do this podcast at the beginning of the year, but it has been flowing toward me gradually. It was not quite ready before. I hope it is ready now.

This episode is really about finding your flow — and in some ways, even waiting for the flow. Waiting before you jump in and do a lot of things. Waiting long enough to receive some insight into what wants to happen from the future.

Before I get into finding your flow, I am going to ring my bowl to ring in the New Year.

As I ring the bowl three times, I invite you to enter three reflections.

With the first ring, allow yourself to travel back into the last year, into 2023. Notice what you need to let go of. What no longer needs to come forward? What can you say no to? Also notice what momentum began in 2023. There may be seeds, channels, or beginnings that want to keep moving forward.

With the second ring, I invite you to travel into the future. Connect with the field that wants to come into being. What is calling to you? What destiny, dream, or deeper possibility is already moving toward you? Not fantasy, but something you can sense wants to happen.

With the third ring, come back into the present. Notice what is here now. Notice what arises when you bring the past and the future together in the present moment.

That is much of what we will explore in this podcast: the past, momentum, the future, and how we bring all of that into the now as we find our flow.

So I invite you to close your eyes, relax, and listen to the bells as you travel into the past, out into the future, and then back into the present — to be here right now.

Once again, this podcast is about finding your flow.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if there could be synchronicity and flow in 2024?

In my last podcast, I talked about opening to synchronicity and flow. Then, on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, more information seemed to arrive for me. It felt directly related to creating momentum and flow in 2024.

When I consider flow, I think of water. I think of a river.

Water flowing down a river is a familiar metaphor, but water is a fascinating element. It finds the easy way. It goes downhill. It does not go uphill unless we mechanically push it. It always finds the natural path downward.

So in terms of flow, how do we find the easy way rather than the hard way? How do we stop pushing, forcing, and trying to make things happen?

Water is also soft, at least in its liquid form, but it is extremely powerful. It cuts through rock over time. It is not weak in any way. It has the patience of time and movement.

Water on the landscape is always moving toward the ocean. Symbolically, we might see that as a return to togetherness, to the vast ocean, to oneness, unity, source, and connection with all life.

Water also has cycles. It flows to the ocean, evaporates, returns to the mountains as snow or rain, and flows again through the channels back to the ocean.

Water also holds vibration. Dr. Masaru Emoto studied water crystals and explored how water can hold vibration. Since we are made largely of water, the vibration within us matters. The water we consume and the environments we are in affect us. Being around good vibrations, beautiful music, peaceful environments, and nature can shift our own vibration.

We all came from water. We were born in a womb, surrounded by water. Water sustains us. All life needs water.

So I love this metaphor of water when looking at flow.

How can we flow like water in strength, ease, patience, and direction?

How do we find our flow in 2024 and beyond, especially in a turbulent world?

From water, we can move to the metaphor of rivers.

Rivers have many paths back to the ocean. Some are slow and meandering, with still waters, pools, eddies, and beauty along the banks. Others have rapids, waterfalls, fast channels, and intensity. Some channels are direct. Others take a long winding path.

Which channel are you on?

Every river has cut a path through history. Tributaries flow into larger rivers, and larger rivers flow toward the sea. Many of these channels have been shaped over time. Some are deep canyons. Some are newly formed by storms.

As a metaphor, we can look at our own channel.

What is your channel? What is its direction? What is your destiny? What is around the bend?

You can look back at the river you have already travelled. You can sense that something is ahead, already formed by the water that has gone before you, or perhaps by a life stream that has been sent out ahead of you.

You have a channel.

Humanity also has a channel.

And I would suggest that the channel humanity is on right now has a lot of turbulence.

In 2024 and beyond, many things in society may continue to be exposed. We may see further destruction of institutions, disruption in economies, health systems, politics, and the ways we have been living. From our past and our historical ways of being, humanity has entered turbulent times.

This river is difficult right now.

There may be waterfalls ahead for some of us. I do not say that to create fear, but as a recognition of what seems to be on the horizon for humanity.

So with the influence of your own channel, your own destiny, and the larger channel of the human collective, how do you find your flow?

What is happening out there in the future for you and for humanity?

How do you find your way within all of this?

These were the kinds of things I was contemplating in the New Year. I was wondering what the core message of flow was for me in 2024.

As I sat with this, I looked at my phone.

In my last podcast, I talked about synchronicity. One of the ways synchronicity often shows up for me is through numbers and notifications on my phone. Sometimes I see repeated numbers, such as 222 or 22:22, in unusual combinations. When that happens, I pay attention and ask whether something meaningful is being shown to me.

On New Year’s Day, I saw the number 41 in two places on my phone notifications. That guided me to the Gene Keys by Richard Rudd.

If you are not familiar with the Gene Keys, they are a system of 64 archetypes that explore shadow, gift, and Siddhic or enlightened expression. I have found them to be a profound guide. When I first discovered the Gene Keys and looked at my own profile, I felt as though I was seeing the unfolding of my life path.

So when I noticed the number 41, I looked up Gene Key 41.

Interestingly, in the ebook app on my phone, I had already left the book open at Gene Key 41. I had been looking through other Gene Keys the day before, but somehow I had stopped there. Even the page number in the app was 888, which also felt meaningful.

This was the kind of synchronicity that made me ask:

What is happening here?

What is Gene Key 41 about?

And it turned out to be very appropriate for the New Year.

Gene Key 41 represents a start codon. In genetics, when DNA is transcribed into protein, a start codon signals the beginning of a new protein sequence. It says, in effect, “We are starting something new here.”

How appropriate is that for January 1st — the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024.

Gene Key 41 also has a shadow, gift, and Siddhi.

The shadow is Fantasy.

This is about dreams and fantasies of creation that do not actually come into being because they were not meant to happen, or because it is not the right time. The fantasy may come from outside conditioning, from “shoulds,” or from ideas we adopt without truly sensing whether they belong to our life stream.

This is often what happens with New Year’s resolutions. We fixate on a fantasy and try to make it happen through force. But because it is not truly in our flow, or not yet in its time, it does not happen. Then we feel disappointed, ashamed, or like we have failed again.

The gift of Gene Key 41 is Anticipation.

Anticipation is sensing into the future and feeling what wants to happen. It is not fantasy. It is not forcing. It is an intuitive sensing of what is around the bend in the river.

This is the feminine energy looking into the future, sensing what wants to emerge, and bringing that awareness back into the present.

When we sense what wants to happen, something feels right. It feels doable. The beliefs, resources, and circumstances around us seem to support that flow.

What if, as a person or organization, you could sense into what wants to happen in relationship to the systems around you? What if you could feel what is possible and step into your true potential?

From that place, we begin to know where the river is going. Then we do not need to swim upstream toward a fantasy. We simply begin moving with the flow.

The dilemma of Gene Key 41 is planning, which is also very appropriate for the New Year.

How often do we get stuck in planning, fixed on our plan, and then become exhausted or unable to move forward?

Planning is not wrong. Planning is the masculine capacity to strategize, structure, and support. But it needs to be in relationship with what has been truly anticipated, rather than with fantasy.

And even then, we need to hold our goals lightly.

As we move downriver toward what we have anticipated, the world is changing. Life may shift. Something unexpected may arrive. We may need to look again into the future, notice what is emerging, and adjust.

When I was younger and travelled, I often had a detailed plan of all the places I wanted to go. That was fine. I am a planner by nature. But if we do not allow flexibility, we can miss the opportunities for something fresh and emergent to happen.

Later in life, when I learned to be more open to what wanted to come in, I was surprised. I met people and had experiences I never would have had if I had stuck too tightly to my plan.

So make goals, but hold them lightly. Be flexible. Be resilient. There are times when discipline and commitment are needed, but also be sensitive to when something no longer wants to emerge in your life.

Perhaps the direction of the river has changed.

Life is a journey. It has a beginning and an end. At the beginning of 2024, we can ask:

What channel am I in?

What is flowing from the past?

What momentum is already here?

What is the turbulence like?

Is this a time to move, or a time to be still?

If the flow has not yet emerged, perhaps it is a time to wait. Maybe you are still letting go of something from the past. Maybe you are healing. Be sensitive to that.

There are many things outside of your control: your past, your genes, your soul’s direction, world events, collective turbulence.

But what is in your control?

Your attitude. Your meaning-making. Your perceptions. Your willingness to forgive, surrender, love, and remain curious. Your response to the disturbances inside and around you.

There may be crossroads where the river splits and you have a choice. You can pause, sense into both rivers, and decide which one you want to travel.

Do you want to go down a river of hate, destruction, and unforgiveness?

Or is there another river that carries peace, love, growth, and healing?

Do you want to attach yourself to the collective river of turbulence, hate, war, blame, and shame? Or are you going to go inside and change your outlook, attitude, and inner state?

How do you navigate your river of life?

How does your river correspond to the river of humanity?

Humanity is already in a turbulent time. If we are not paying attention to our own river and how we are navigating it, things may become very difficult.

That was Gene Key 41.

Then, on New Year’s Eve, Gene Key 37 arose for me, which was also very interesting.

Gene Key 37 gave me a sense of where the human river is going, and how we might participate in creating a new future for humanity.

Again, I noticed 37 in a couple of places on my phone. I looked up Gene Key 37, and it seemed to speak to the direction of human evolution.

Gene Key 37 is about Synergy and the reuniting of the human family.

Not only the genetic family, which is often highly dysfunctional, but the larger human family. It holds a vision of reunification — of loving and caring for all of humanity. It invites us to stop seeing other races, cultures, worldviews, or groups as separate from us, and instead to recognize them as part of one human family.

This may still be far in the future, but it needs to begin now.

Right now, we are experiencing the disintegration of the human family. There is polarization, splitting into tribes, protectionism, and separation.

And yet many people are being called to reweave the fabric of humanity back into wholeness. To remember that we are one organism, one human family, meant to live in synergy with all of life on Earth.

The shadow of Gene Key 37 is Weakness. The gift is Equality. The Siddhi is Tenderness.

Although this Gene Key is about the human family, community, trust, and synergy, it is also very much about masculine and feminine energies coming into balance.

As I felt into Gene Key 37, I sensed a new way for the masculine and feminine to show up together — a new synergy that is almost unborn.

In our past, we have had a strong masculine pattern of forcing, pushing, controlling, and paternalistic energy. We are still living in that momentum, though those energies are beginning to die.

The feminine energies are coming in. This is not only about male and female, but about the masculine and feminine within each of us.

As we look toward our plans and flow in the New Year, there is weakness when either the masculine or feminine is out of balance.

The masculine is meant to follow and support the feminine.

That is why I invited you to go into the future with intuition and insight first. Receive from the feminine energy. Then allow the masculine energy to make plans, strategize, protect, and support the insight.

Pay attention to the equality within yourself — the balance and integration of these energies. Let the yin and yang support each other in a more appropriate balance so that synergy can create your future.

This synergy is also emerging collectively.

As turbulence moves through humanity, we may eventually say, “Enough. Enough of the old world and the way we have developed.” Not because the past was wrong, but because evolution is calling something new forward.

The human family wants to be born.

A new relationship between the feminine and masculine wants to be born — one where the feminine leads and the masculine supports, in balance and synergy.

Within this synergy, there is also a mother energy, the tenderness of the Siddhic level. This is the energy of Mother Earth, the Divine Mother, unconditional love, and the holding field that supports an emerging world.

This does not mean there will be no boundaries. A loving mother may still say, “No, there is a boundary here. This behaviour cannot be accepted.” But when the boundary comes from love, it is not trauma. It is nurturing. It is guidance. It is harmony.

So I encourage you to look at your life and your planning for 2024.

What is your role in this direction?

How do you support the movement back toward the human family?

Where do you need to surrender, let go, or forgive so that you can move more clearly in this evolutionary channel toward a new Earth?

Finally, I want to share a little about what is unfolding for me through these Gene Keys, especially Gene Key 37.

In 2023, I began creating a structure and experience called Cohering Community.

The idea of Cohering Community is to build circles of coherent, trusting, loving relationship — not genetic families, but chosen circles that can rebuild trust in society from the bottom up.

These circles can hold the disruptions and shadows of each person. They can support the healing of trauma. And through enough trust, safety, and synergy, they can begin to receive collective insight into what wants to emerge for that group.

One circle can connect with another circle, and another, reweaving the fabric of society from the bottom up.

I do not believe we will be successful through top-down control structures. This is more about rebuilding from community, from heterarchy, from trust, and from the gifts of people coming together.

You may be feeling this too: there is a deep longing for belonging.

Cohering Community is a container where people can experience belonging, be seen and heard, offer their gifts, receive the gifts of others, and support each other in co-creation.

It is a supportive group, a safe group, and a co-creative group.

I want to help create and propagate many of these circles, and invite people to lead circles of trust, love, caring, and co-creation so that we can change the world together.

What can you create in community that you cannot create alone?

If this resonates with you, you can learn more at Cohering Community. I will put the link in the show notes.

This is where much of my energy is going now. This is the momentum and calling I feel moving from 2023 into 2024.

At the end of last year, we ran an experiment with this process, and it was a phenomenal experience. We are still digesting it and improving upon it, but beautiful souls came together through deep conversations and meaningful growth.

In these turbulent times, I believe we will all need supportive communities where we can unwind, let down our armor, open up, learn together, share, and heal.

One group I am part of, which also came from the Cohering Community process, has called itself an Oasis — a place where we can come without judgment, let down our armor, and reconnect.

I would love to see these circles, and this capacity for circle, propagated throughout humanity so that we can create harmony and a new Earth.

Many other leaders are doing similar things. So if you are not drawn to the Cohering Community I am creating, please find another place where you belong.

But be discerning.

In the search for belonging, many people gravitate toward others with the same biases or worldview. Sometimes those groups are not healthy. Ask yourself: Is this leading me down a rabbit hole? Is it life-giving or life-depleting? Is it based on anger, war, blame, and shadow? Or does it open your heart and support constructive service to humanity?

Does it support your purpose and meaning in life?

What is your flow?

Have you found your flow?

If I can help you find your flow through Cohering Community or through a private session, I invite you to reach out for a free discovery session through my website.

If you are in business or part of an organization, and your team wants to find its flow, create more supportive environments, move from forcing to flow, or explore more community-based and heterarchical ways of working and leading, I would also be happy to have a conversation.

All the best in finding your flow.
